Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians

March 16th, 2021

In Ephesians 1:15-23 the apostle Paul prays for the Ephesian church.

He uses a similar pattern to my last post. He says some things good about them, prays for them and we see a “so” statement.

1. Paul gives thanks for their…

  • Strong faith in the Lord Jesus
  • Their love for all God’s people everywhere.

Again this is two great things to be known for.

2. Paul then prays for them and asks God for…

  • To give them spiritual insight and wisdom
  • That their hearts would be filled with light
  • To understand the incredible greatness of God’s power

These are great things to pray for the church members.

3. Paul then explains the reasons why he prayed this way…

  • So they could understand the confident hope God has given to His people
  • So they would grow in their knowledge of God

These are two things we all need as Christians. Understanding the hope we have and growing in our faith.

Like Paul’s prayer for the Colossians in my last post, it would be great to have an Apostle know and understand your church and pray these things for you.

Blessings,
