Motivation for selfless living

July 8th, 2017

The Apostle Paul understood selfless living. Once he converted to Christ he gave himself completely to the work of the Kingdom.

When we read through the New Testament we see there are so many verses that talk about selfless living. They call us to put Christ and His Kingdom first and others second.

Over the years I have read a number of verses that inspired me to live for Christ and His Kingdom. Here are a few…

Matthew 6:33 – “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.”

Luke 9:23 – Then He said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow Me”

Romans 12:1 – “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.”

Galatians 2:20 – “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

And today’s verses…

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 – “Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.”

To live for Christ and His Kingdom takes an inner motivation. It takes determination. It takes perseverance. As Luke 9:23 says we have to take up our cross daily and follow Him.

When we realise that Christ died for us and it is no longer “I that live, but Christ living in me”, then we are on the path to selfless living.

God Bless,
