Early in the morning

September 14th, 2016

In my sermon last Sunday I shared how Jesus got up early and went to a solitary place to pray. Mark 1:35 is one place where this is mentioned.

This is something I try to do. I like to speak to God and think through things with God before my day begins. Before emails, before Facebook, before people.

As I reflected on this time recently I realised that a lot of my best ideas come to me at this time.

I often get a five point sermon outline in this time, a person to pray for or to call who needs help, a blog post idea, or an idea for a new outreach ministry.

These things come easily before my mind starts to fill up with other things. For me this time is precious and it sets my day up right.

Sometimes it happens when I am upright, sometimes it happens when I am still in bed. But the key is that it is that time before the busyness of life begins.

As I said in my sermon last Sunday – if Jesus as the Son of God needed this time, then how much more do we?

I would encourage you to start your day with that alone time with God.  It can make a huge difference to your day.

God Bless,
