Understanding your SHAPE

June 5th, 2016

Understanding our SHAPE can be useful in finding the things we are best suited to in life. This can help us find the work and ministry involvements that suit us best.

The following are what the word SHAPE spells out.

S – Spiritual Gifts

A special capacity for service given by God to every believer for the benefit of His Church, the Body of Christ. These are found in 1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12 and Ephesians 4.

H – Heart

A God-given desire that invigorates and motivates you to meaningful ministry involvement for God’s kingdom. Our heart determines the things we do, say and what we are drawn to be involved with.

A – Abilities

These are natural talents and skills given by God to every human being for His glory (whether people love Him or not). These help us to fulfil God’s plans and purposes in this world.

P – Personality

Your natural and energized approach to life and relationships affects the way we use our gifts. Two people may have the gift of evangelism, but use it differently depending if they are introverted or extroverted.

E – Experiences

Events and situations in your life that God has used to mold you into who you are. Our education, our work history, our spiritual and ministry experience and our general life experience (both good and bad) can be used to further God’s Kingdom.

There are a number of places online where you can do a free survey to help you understand your SHAPE and find where you might be best suited to work and serve God.

It is well worth taking some time to research this as it is “There is no happier place than the intersection of God’s will and your giftedness” (Phil Vischer).

God Bless,
Dave
