Don’t neglect your spiritual side

April 13th, 2015

A lot of people I talk to about faith and life neglect the spiritual side of life. They understand the need to develop their minds and their bodies, but are unaware of the need to develop spiritually.

Looking back to my Bible college days I remember that this is a very Greek way of thinking in the time of Christ. A Greek ideal was to have a healthy mind in a healthy body.

I believe as humans we are tripartite beings. That means made up of three parts – soul, body and spirit.

Our soul is our mind, will and emotions. It is what makes up our personality in a sense. Our body is what we live in and our spirit is what helps us to make our connection with God.

For us to be fully alive we need to pay attention to all three aspects. We can’t just develop our mind or our body, we also need to make our connection with God and develop our spiritual side.

Making our connection with God starts with asking Jesus Christ into our lives as our Lord and Saviour, it involves confessing our sin and trusting Christ for our salvation.

Once we have made this connection with Christ our lives begin again in a sense. The Bible tells us we are born again. After this, the discipleship process can begin. This is when we learn what it is to walk with Christ.

If you would like to ask Jesus Christ into your life I would encourage you to visit my peace with God page here. Once you have done that, please visit my discipleship page too.

God Bless,
