Australia Day prayer

January 23rd, 2015

I work part time in a supply role at the local Hospital here in Merredin. At work people know that I am a Christian and that I have been a Pastor in the past.

Because they know this, occasionally I am asked to pray at the various functions at the hospital. Today I was asked to prayer at our Australia Day flag raising ceremony.

Here is a copy of the prayer that I prayed. I thought I would share it today.

Loving Heavenly Father,

We come before You today as a part of the Australia Day Flag Raising ceremony here at the hospital.

Lord we thank You that we live in this great country, a country that gives us great freedoms and with great opportunities. With Australia Day on Monday we take this opportunity to thank You for this blessing from above.

Lord as we raise these three great flags today ā€“ The Aboriginal flag, the Australian Flag and the WA Flag – We ask Your blessing on this time and on this occasion.

Lord I also pray for all of the staff at the hospital ā€“ the doctors, the nurses, the physios, the admin staff, the xray staff, the pathwest staff, and all the support staff. I pray that You will watch over us all, help us and keep us safe as we work here in this hospital.

Lord give us wisdom to diagnose illness and the right treatment, give us compassion for those who are suffering, give a deep concern for those who are in need. And as we do these things please give us a sense of peace and unity as we work hard to make people well.

Lord I pray for all those people who are in our hospital right now. I pray that You will place Your healing hand upon them. Make them well so they can go home to their families as soon as possible.

Lord, as I close, I ask this place will continue to be a place of healing for the town and the region. I pray Your blessing and Your peace over the hospital, over all of her staff and over all those who come to access help from us.

I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen
