Better diet improves hayfever suffering

I was just reading an interesting article on the Daily Mail Australia website after searching for hayfever information on Google. It was titled, “How a better diet could beat the suffering of hayfever“.

The article talks about many of the changes I have made to my diet recently and echoes the results I have found.

Normally I suffer chronic hayfever for most of spring and until mid summer. In less than two weeks all of my hayfever symptoms are gone and I am off medication. For me that is a miracle!

Two key points of the article include cutting out some foods and including some foods. Here is a snippet…

‘Eliminate mucus-forming foods such as milk products, sugar and excessive starch,’ says Mr Newman Turner. ‘This will reduce catarrh and the worst of the streaming.

‘A predominantly raw-food diet (fruit and vegetables) helps to reduce the inflammatory tendency and patients also do well on cleansing diets or even short fasts, under professional supervision.’

Linda Lazarides adds: ‘You need to reduce the tendency for the body to form histamine by boosting your diet with foods rich in calcium, magnesium, methionine and flavonoids. Have loads of nuts, sunflower seeds, onions, cabbage, blackberries and apples, including their peel.

Normally this time of year I am dosed up with hayfever medication, have all the doors and windows closed and wear a mask if I mow the lawn. As a result to changes in my diet I am symptom free.

Not only has the vegan diet helped me to feel better and have more energy, it has removed my hayfever symptoms altogether.
