1optimistglassRecently my daughter bought me an Optimist glass like in the picture. You fill it up with water or juice and it fills only the top half up.

I thought it was a really cool present. She got it for Father’s Day but she couldn’t wait to give it to me!

I haven’t always been an optimist, but I learned to be one over the years. At first it seemed fake to expect the best in all situations and expect things to go well.

But over time I learned that being optimistic usually works out that way and that it beats being pessimistic. Some of the dictionary definitions are quite interesting…

  • disposed to take a favourable view of events or conditions and to expect the most favourable outcome.
  • the tendency to expect the best and see the best in all things
  • the doctrine of the ultimate triumph of good over evil

I have learned to expect the best and believe the best, because it mostly seems to bring favourable outcomes. I have found that thinking positive seems to allow positive things to happen.

Does that mean everything always turns out perfectly? Of course not. But even when things don’t go as expected there is always positives to be found.

I guess for me being optimistic fits in with how I view the world. Regardless of what is happening, God is still on His throne and His plans WILL come to pass.

Knowing God is on control, what is there to be pessimistic about anyway!

God Bless,
