Follow Paul’s example

May 24th, 2014

I was reading through Philippians 4 yesterday and verse 9 jumped out at me. It says…

“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”

This is Paul speaking to the people at Philippi and asking them to follow his example in how he did things.

I like the four words of example that Paul used. He said whatever you have “learned, received, heard and seen” in him, to put into practice.

These words made me think of my example to those around me. It is not just about what I say, it is more about modelling a way of life as I follow Jesus.

It reminds me 1 Corinthians 11:1 in which Paul also said, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.”

Paul was very confident in his walk with Christ. He was confident if others followed him, then they would be on the right track.

It makes me think about my example and the things people have learned, received, heard and seen in me.

What am I modelling to others? What are you modelling? I think that is worth reflecting on today.

God Bless,
Dave
