Schools, bullying and homeschooling

June 11th, 2013

There has been a lot of talk about schools and bullying in the news lately. A lot of schools also run programs on how to combat bullying.

At our church youth group recently they did a session on bullying. They explained what it was and the kids shared their experiences. One exercise they did was to move to one side of the room or the other if certain things had happened to them.

When they asked about being bullied at school all the kids except two girls moved to the side of the room that was bullied. The two girls who were not bullied were our girls.

It really hit home to me one of the positives of homeschooling is our girls have never been bullied at school.

It is not that our girls are hidden away either. They go to church, youth group, do athletics and have played several seasons of netball. They are out and about.

Homeschooling has been really hard work, but it has been worth it for us as a family. Especially when talking about issues like bullying.

God Bless,
