What do I like about church part 3

November 29th, 2012

This week I am sharing the things I like about church. Today I want to talk about taking Communion.

Communion or the Lord’s Supper as it is also known helps us to remember Jesus and what He has done for us. The bread or wafer represents Christ’s body and the juice or wine represents His blood that was shed for us.

In some traditions it is very formal and can be seen as part of a public salvation commitment. In the traditions I come from it is more about taking the time to stop and remember Jesus and His death of the cross for us.

I really love taking Communion every week as a part of the church service. It gives me that time to stop and re-focus my thoughts, my life and my heart on Jesus.

Another thing I really like about the traditions I attend is the holding of the small cup of juice until everybody has one and we drink together. For me this takes it from just a personal remembrance to a unified group of people who are one in Christ.

When I don’t attend church for a time Communion is one of the things I really miss. For me there is something special is this simple celebration and remembrance.

What do I like about church – Communion.

God Bless,

Dave
