The Bible confronts me

January 16th, 2010

One of the things the Bible does to me every now and then is it confronts me. It confronts my heart attitudes and thoughts about life and about others.

One verse that can be confronting is the one that was BibleGateway.com’s verse of the day yesterday. It says…

“If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.” (1 John 4:20-21)

It is pretty straight forward and to the point to say the least. It doesn’t send any mixed messages or you don’t need a Bible commentary to understand it!

For me, I am glad the Bible does have this confrontation aspect to it. It challenges me and my attitudes that I hold at times like it says in Hebrews 4:12.

I always try to remember though, that this challenge is for my own God and it is always about keeping me on track with God and right with those around me.

How about you? Have you found the Bible is confronting at times?

God Bless,

Dave
