Confirmations that Jesus was the Messiah part 2

January 8th, 2010

In the third reading (Mark 1:1-45) of the “Two weeks in the life and Teachings of Jesus” Bible reading plan, we see that there was another confirmation that Jesus was the Messiah the Jews had been waiting for.

In verses 9-11 we see that Jesus has gone down to the Jordan to be baptised by John the Baptist. The passage says that as, “Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

God the Father spoke from heaven and gave approval to His Son Jesus. Combine this with the Angel’s announcement to the shepherds, the heavenly hosts singing praises, and two godly people Simeon and Anna in the Temple, we can conclude that Jesus was definitely the Messiah the Jews were expecting.
