A deeper appreciation

December 10th, 2009

One of the things I have enjoyed this year is a new and deeper appreciation of what Christ has done for me through some of the church traditions I have not experienced before.

One simple celebration that has been Advent and the lighting of the candles each Sunday service. From the outside I thought this was just about lighting a candle each week. But when you read about what the candles signify and reflect on it, you can find more meaning in the lead up to Christmas.

Of course with all traditions we can fall into the habit of going through the motions and just do things because we have always done them. But when you go into them seeking to know Christ in a deeper way, it can be a time of spiritual renewal and a deeper appreciation of what Christ has done.

I am looking forward to learning more about the church traditions over the next few years and the growth in my relationship with Christ they will bring.

God Bless,

Dave
