The Word is alive and active

June 2nd, 2009

I have just finished reading the New Testament Book of Acts. One thing that really struck me is how the Bible really is alive and active and depending on the focus the Holy Spirit places on the text we can see different things.

The last time I read the Book of Acts I had to do it from a perspective of looking at the early church and the house church movement for a Bible College assignment. This time as I read the thing that jumped out was Peter and Paul’s absolute commitment to their faith and their absolute commitment to preach the Gospel.

It is amazing that even though the Bible was written several thousand years ago it can still speak to us today. I just thank God the Bible is not just an old text book that gathers dust on my bookshelf. It is alive and active and it tells me of a loving God who longs to be in relationship with us all and has a plan and purpose for each of our lives. It really is a book full of Good News and great teaching!

Tomorrow I start reading the Book of Romans one chapter a day. If you would like to join me you can click on this link to find a free online Bible.

God Bless,
