Praying with others

May 7th, 2009

One of the things I love to do in this life is pray. I like to pray alone in my quiet times and I really enjoy praying with other Christians in a group too.

Last night we had our regular Wednesday prayer meeting at church. We prayed for our church, its members, our community, the other churches in town and lots more. It was great to be with others lifting our church and community up to God and asking for His blessings on them all.

As we were praying I shared my desire to make a bigger impact for God. Regular readers will know that my heart is to reach people for Christ and encourage them on their journey with Him. As soon as I said this some members of the team jumped up, layed hands on me and prayed up a storm. It was both humbling and awesome at the same time…I was in tears at the end!

This is one of the reasons why I love praying with others so much. We get to share each others lives and lift each other up to God in prayer. If one is struggling or has a big event coming up, the others can gather around and pray. It really makes a difference knowing that people are standing there with you.

For me, this Wednesday night prayer meeting is one of the highlights of my week. I get to meet with other people who love Jesus and love prayer. It is an awesome time and I always come away inspired and uplifted.
