Transition and Scripture

May 4th, 2009

All of us at different times of our life go through periods of transition. Times when we finish one thing and we move on to the next. Sometimes though, we finish one thing before we know what is next.

While we can be nervous and uncertain of what the future holds, I believe it is important to look to God and trust Him for the outcome. One of the ways I look to God in these times is through Scripture.

I have a number of verses that I print out and read everyday. This helps me to look to God and it assures me that He has things under control. Here’s a few of my favourites…

Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight”.

Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Ephesians 2:10 – “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”.

1 Peter 5:7 – “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you”.

Matthew 6:33 – “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well”.

I love having these timeless truths on hand to help me focus on the One that holds my future. These Scriptures help me to know that God has a plan for me and that if I just seek His Kingdom ALL things will be added unto me.

For the times I get nervous about the outcome, I can simply caste my anxiety and cares upon Him too.
