Speaking to Parliament

February 3rd, 2009

I have often wondered what I would say if I had the opportunity to speak to the Members of the Australian Parliament. I wonder if I would go hard or would I go easy. Thankfully I don’t think they are going to call me soon!

However, today the President of the Uniting Church in Australia, Rev Gregor Henderson, was invited to preach at today’s service to mark the opening of Parliament for 2009. He reminded Parliamentarians of the story of the Good Samaritan, and about the fundamentals of Christianity; loving God and loving our neighbours.

Loving God, loving your neighbour and the story of the Good Samaratian is a pretty good effort I think. Especially in the midst of the current financial crisis it is a good message for the Members to hear.

If you want to read the rest of his message you can read it here
