A favourite passage

November 10th, 2008

One of my favourite passages of Scritpure comes from Psalms 1:1-3. It says…

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

When you look at this passage you find five things that give you advice on how to be successful in life. It shows you some things you should do and some things you should avoid.

Here they are…

  1. Don’t listen to or take advice from bad people.
  2. Don’t hang around with people you know are doing the wrong thing.
  3. Don’t join in with people mocking or running down others.
  4. Take delight in God’s Word.
  5. Meditate on the content of God’s Word day and night.

The result of this…

God promises a properous life that yields fruit at the right time and you prosper in whatever you do.

I don’t know about you, but that sounds good to me!
