The neighbours think I am crazy

June 14th, 2008

I was having some problems with patchy lawn recently and my father-in-law suggested a technique that he has used in the past. He said that I should walk around with an axe and chop it every 12 inches or so.

At first I thought he was joking and I laughed, but he assured me that it would work. He said that it aerates the soil and allows the water to get down to the roots. I was told that in four weeks I would have a beautiful thick lawn.

I thought about it for a bit and then decided to try it in my backyard where no one could see. I carried out his instructions to the letter. Sure enough, four weeks later, hey presto, beautiful thick healthy lawn.

Armed with new confidence I decided to try it out the front. The funny thing was it just happened to be a day when all my neighbours were outside gardening or driving past. A few of them nearly crashed their cars watching me as they drove. I looked very strange and I am sure most of them think I had lost it, but I was confident it would work.

Well it has been two weeks and now my front lawn is beautifying more and more by the day. It is getting thicker and greener and looking good. I hope the neighbours see the results and realise that I hadn’t lost it, I was just doing my lawn a favour.

Hopefully they don’t think of me as that crazy lawn chopping guy down at number 11 đŸ™‚
