My number one responsibility

May 11th, 2007

I’ve been reflecting a lot lately on what my number one responsibility is as a minister. Is it preaching, teaching, praying for people, visitation, counseling people, community outreach or helping the poor?

As I have reflected on this the Lord has been prompting from all directions with one particular verse – Mark 12:30. I have had it in emails, from friends, from my wife, reading it on blogs, on the radio and in magazines. It has been everywhere!

Mark 12:30 says, “And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength”.

My number one responsibility as a Christian and a minister is to love God with all my heart. It sounds so simple and obvious, but as times the busyness of life can turn our focus from God to serving God.

Thank You Lord for the timely reminders! It has been great to actually stop and “Be still” again!

How about you? How have the last few weeks or months been going? Have you had that same love and time for God? Or have you been caught up in serving Him and doing His will?
