Jesus understands our rejection

One thing I have come to learn about Jesus is that He understands rejection. When He was born there was no room for Him in Bethlehem. When He was two years old the government tried to hunt Him down to kill Him. When He began His public ministry His own people the Jews rejected Him. So did the religious leaders of the day who should have known better. While some people did receive Jesus, the vast majority rejected Him.

The sad fact of Jesus’ life is that the very people He came to help, bless and ultimately save - rejected Him flatly. Even to the point that they had Him crucified on the cross.

Many people who read this website have experienced the pain of rejection. They night have been rejected by family, by school friends, by workmates, by sporting clubs and some even by well meaning churches. The pain and isolation that rejection brings can last many many years and can be hard to overcome.

The good news is that Jesus understands your pain and rejection. He wants to comfort you and help you to overcome the feelings and pain caused by being rejected by those who have hurt you. He wants to set you free.

The Bible tells us in Luke 19:10 that, “Jesus came to see seek and save the lost”. That was a major part of His mission here on earth. He came to restore those who feel disconnected with others and disconnected from God. We also read in John 1:12 that when we come to Jesus we become part of God’s eternal family. When we become part of God’s family Jesus promises to never leave us or never forsake us.

Dear God,
I have experienced so much pain and rejection in my life. Please heal me from the pain and suffering this has caused. I thank You that You left heaven to come and seek and save me. Thank You Jesus that You loved me so much that you came and died on the cross for my sin. I ask you to forgive my sin now. Please come into my life as my Lord and my Saviour. I pray that You will walk by my side each day and help me to follow You. Amen.
